Educational programs are an important component of the South Carolina Shakespeare Company's mission. We believe that drama teaches people of all ages. The Company is versatile enough to visit schools around the state to help students discover aspects of Shakespeare's works or to concentrate on one show in particular.
In addition to our main stage productions performed in Columbia's city parks, Shakespeare on Tour performs for high schools and universities throughout the state. Following each show, the company provides detailed study guides, acting workshops and open forums for a full exploration of Shakespeare and his works. The company also has encouraged participation from children in actual productions ranging from The Tempest to A Midsummer Night's Dream to Macbeth, providing an artistic and educational foundation for area youth. |
